My top 5 favorites dahlias sometimes changes day to day. But I can say with almost certainty, no dahlia can dethrone this masterpiece. To me, Hollyhill Orange Ice is the undeniable queen of my dahlia field.
These stunning blooms are reminiscent of an orange creamsicle; warm peachy tones tipped in white. This dahlia has enough petals for itself and its neighbors, each petal forming an incredible uniform, formal decorative blooms. Typically blooms are 5” across, but can be nearly 7” across in idea conditions. The 3” plant is truly covered in blooms all season long.
Hollyhill Orange Ice does give you some variation in her blooms early in the season, ranging from more white to more vibrant orange, but she really hits her stride in mid to late September for me in Zone 8b, producing those massive, swoon-worthy creamsicle blooms.
